PC8 Wins By a Royal Mile
PC8 won the 'Spirit of Whisky Fringe' award.
The Whisky Fringe tasting, organised by Royal Mile Whiskies, occurred over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August during the Edinburgh Festival. To get in to the spirit, the venue was appropriately the Mansfield Traquair, once a Catholic Episcopalian church. Around 200 whiskies were available to be tasted by members of the public and all visitors were given the chance to vote for their favourite spirit tasted over the weekend.
PC8, the heavily peated Bruichladdich (40ppm's worth), was voted by the public as outright winner. Bruichladdich has again been well received by the folk of Edinburgh. A Bruichladdich has now won this trophy twice in the last three years, coming second once. Bruichladdich 18 First Edition won in 2007, Bruichladdich 18 second edition came second in 2008, and now the PC8 has won in 2009.
PC8 is the last release in the 6 tin Islay series. This year's win is a significant achievement given that the whisky is 8 years old and other contenders were considerably older - a number being 20 and 30 year old whiskies.
