Red River Distillery

Mark Tayburn, who worked at our Bruichladdich Academy,  has  started production at  the Abhainn Dearg distillery (Red River in Gaelic) near Uig on the Atlantic coast of Lewis. The distillery,  on the site of a former salmon hatchery, will produce 10,000 litres this year, and up to 25,000 litres by 2010,  164 years since the last legal distillery in the Western Isles closed.

Well done. Good for you.
