Three local people travelling in a pick-up were killed early yesterday evening in a car crash, just two miles from the distillery.

A deceptively slippery road surface on the Strand in rare freezing conditions may have contributed to the head on collision with a lorry that claimed the lives of a father and son, and the brother of one of our team here.

In such a tight-knit, inter-woven, island community every one is deeply touched - one way or another. The shock of the  tragedy is great indeed, even more so being an island where joy and celebration are inextricably linked with sorrow and heartache.

Now, on such a glorious, still, winter morning it is hard to accept how quickly lives' warm blood turns into cold statistic.
